2026 University of Tartu Asia Centre Scholarship recipients

The call for applications for the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Postdoctoral Fellowships is open until 9 September 2026. In April and May, the Estonian Research Council (ETAG) will host info sessions to help prospective applicants prepare their applications.

Registration is now open for the international conference “Crisis & Recovery – Ethics in Interdisciplinary Dialogue”, taking place at the University of Tartu from 20 to 23 August 2026. The event also marks the 62nd annual conference of Societas Ethica – The European Society for Research in Ethics.

Speaker application is open until April 1 for TEDxUniversity of Tartu.

Recently published books offer a fresh perspective on Orthodox Christianity, focusing not only on institutional church history but also on lived religion, solidarity, and participation.

We invite authors to submit paper abstracts for the conference “Crisis & Recovery: Ethics in Interdisciplinary Dialogue,” which will take place on 20–23 August 2026 at the University of Tartu.

6. oktoobril toimus Tartu Ülikooli senati saalis rahvusvaheline konverents „Õigeusk imperiaalses ja post-imperiaalses kontekstis”.

University of Tartu semioticians Andreas Ventsel and Mari-Liis Madisson, along with Junior Research Fellow in Information Resilience Diana Poudel, have developed tools for enhancing critical digital literacy in cooperation with international partners. The practical materials are designed for use in higher education, schools, companies and organisations to support navigating the digital landscape and countering the spread of disinformation.

On February 14 and 19, everyone is welcome to attend public lectures by Sebastian Rimestad from the University of Leipzig. He will explore topics such as Orthodox Christianity and religious authority in Western Europe, as well as the "Ortho-Bros" movement and political cleavage in the USA.

In the summer, two large book donations were made to the University of Tartu Library, adding to its existing collection of books on the classical and early modern periods.
